RakuOS opposes invasive age-verification and age-attestation mandates. If these laws move forward, we will implement the absolute bare minimum in the most privacy-respecting way possible.

Secure Boot Supported
RakuOS supports Secure Boot. You can leave Secure Boot enabled in your firmware before booting the installer.
On first boot after installation a blue MOK Manager screen will appear — select Enroll MOK and enter the password rakuos to complete enrollment.

You may be able to move to RakuOS without a full reinstall by rebasing from a Fedora Atomic based system such as
Silverblue, Kinoite, or another rpm-ostree / bootc-based desktop.
Important first step
If your current Atomic system has layered packages, overrides, removed base packages, or other local rpm-ostree changes,
reset those first before rebasing:
sudo rpm-ostree reset
After the rebase finishes, reboot to enter RakuOS and let first-boot setup complete.

Getting Started

Download your edition
Choose AMD/Intel for open source drivers or Nvidia for proprietary driver support.

Flash to a USB drive
Use Balena Etcher, Fedora Media Writer, Image Writer or dd to create a bootable USB.

Boot and install
Boot from USB with Secure Boot enabled or disabled — both work. Follow the Anaconda installer. Disk setup is all it needs — first boot handles the rest including Secure Boot key enrollment.

The RakuOS welcome app guides you through optional setup — gaming, VMs, local AI, and more.
