Hello everyone, I really wanted to share some feedback on my experience with RakuOS. First, a quick introduction: I’ve been a Fedora Workstation user since 2020, and for the last two years, I decided to give Silverblue a try. I was fed up with things breaking during kernel updates when using an Nvidia GPU. Over the past six months, I tested various distributions that leverage Silverblue’s atomic system, such as Bluefin and Bluebuild’s base images. However, none of them quite suited me; Bluefin had too much unnecessary software, and Bluebuild’s base images were often broken — maintenance didn't seem to be a priority for the Bluebuild team. This week, I tried the Cosmic version of RakuOS in live mode because I knew the founder of Origami had joined your team and I’d been keeping an eye on the distribution's progress. Cosmic’s maturity level didn't convince me; I absolutely need an on-screen keyboard, and unfortunately, Cosmic isn't quite there yet. So, I’m now using the GNOME version of RakuOS, and I have to say I’m very impressed. Silverblue has been stagnant for years with no real evolution on their end. I wanted a fully bootc-based distribution with Nvidia drivers included, and the installation went smoothly with RakuOS. The only time the installer asked for authentication was when selecting the keyboard layout; I clicked "Authenticate," and everything proceeded without issues. Also, when it came to partition the disk, another authentication prompt popped up. I chose "Cancel," and the installation stopped. So, I restarted the process and chose to authenticate both times — without a password, of course, since it was a live version. Then, the system started up and the updates ran; it offered me the same image twice, downloading the update both times with a reboot in between. Everything went smoothly despite that minor hiccup. A notification appeared suggesting I switch to an image with V3 and Nvidia drivers. I clicked the notification, but nothing happened. I realized I needed to switch images using the system manager. So, I selected V3 and Nvidia from the manager's drop-down menu; the new image downloaded, and the manager closed automatically. I wasn't sure if the download had failed, but I rebooted anyway, knowing what to expect with an image-based bootc system. Then, the magic happened: everything worked as intended — Nvidia drivers and V3 running on the new kernel. I also have to mention that the theme is wonderful; on Silverblue, I always used to have a colored bar between the top panel and Librewolf's dark theme. Also, the ability to uninstall Firefox is a real advantage — on Silverblue, it's impossible to remove the browser. Once again, it was an excellent experience; you can really see the passion behind this project. Thanks again.
