Ok so i'm having issues installing my fingerprint scanner on RakuOS. I tried using ai to help me install it and I kept running into issues. Because of libfprint. I put the details of the bug below. Please help.

Title: rum cannot install packages that Conflicts: with a base-image package (no --allowerasing equivalent)

Environment:

· RakuOS (Fedora 44 base)

· Package: libfprint-tod (from COPR grahamwhiteuk/libfprint-tod)

· Conflicting base package: libfprint-0:1.94.100-1.fc44.x86_64

Steps to reproduce:

1. sudo dnf copr enable grahamwhiteuk/libfprint-tod

2. sudo rum install libfprint-2-tod1-broadcom

Expected behavior:

rum should be able to replace the base libfprint with libfprint-tod in the overlay (equivalent to dnf swap or dnf install --allowerasing), since the overlay is writable.

Actual behavior:

Already tracked — reinstalling 2 and its overlay dependencies...

Error: resolving dependencies: could not resolve: package libfprint-tod-0:1.95.2-1.fc44.x86_64

conflicts with libfprint provided by libfprint-0:1.94.100-1.fc44.x86_64;

package libfprint-2-tod1-broadcom-0:6.1.26-5.fc44.x86_64 requires libfprint-tod,

but none of the providers can be installed

Suggested fix:

Add a --allowerasing / --replace flag to rum install that allows an overlay package to conflict with and replace a base-image package. This is a common pattern in Fedora (e.g., libfprint-tod replacing libfprint, or any package that supersedes another).

Workaround attempted:

dnf swap libfprint libfprint-tod on the host — also fails (same underlying limitation).

Will look into a better solution then  allowing packages to be shadowed, also we do have these flags but rum is designed to be pretty strict on package shadowing because shadowing in the overlay can  cause some weird behavior
