Great job with the implemenation of the Rum packet manager! And the image upgrade is snappier than ever AND with a progress bar!

The Rakuos-software in Niri has lost packages to search for, though. I tried to find flatpaks like OnlyOffice and Shortwave that were there before but are no longer available. They are easy to install through the terminal, but anyway. Is there a reason why you made it "slimmer"?

Why is Brave Standard available in Rakuos-Welcome but not in Rakuos-software? Shouldn't there be an "office" tab in Rakuos-Welcome?

Just a few comments.

Glad to hear you're enjoying Rum and the new image upgrade progress bar! Here are a few thoughts on the points you brought up:

  • Flatpak Search in RakuOS-Software: The software store seems to be undergoing backend refactoring to stay lightweight alongside the shift to Rum. If Flatpaks like OnlyOffice or Shortwave aren't showing up, double-check if the Flathub remote needs to be refreshed in the app settings, though keeping Flatpak search consistent in Niri is definitely worth submitting as feedback on the tracker.
  • Brave in Welcome vs. Software: RakuOS-Welcome uses curated, one-click install scripts, whereas RakuOS-Software dynamically queries package repo and Flatpak metadata. A tool featured in the Welcome helper won't automatically show up in the software store unless its underlying repository source is actively indexed by the GUI app manager.
  • "Office" Tab Suggestion: Having a dedicated productivity tab in RakuOS-Welcome (for quick-installing OnlyOffice, LibreOffice, etc.) alongside browsers is a great UX idea. It would streamline initial setup even further for fresh installs.

Solid feedback overall—dropping in the DIscord server and sharing these issues will definitely help polish those edges!
