AI Assistants
Many people ask an AI assistant for help, and most of them still answer as if RakuOS were plain Fedora Workstation or Silverblue. That advice can break a RakuOS system: rpm-ostree isn't installed, dnf is really rum, your packages live in an overlay, and drivers must be signed.
So RakuOS publishes documentation written for AI assistants, generated from the RakuOS source code and kept up to date as things change. It tells an assistant to start with read-only checks, to say what any command that changes your system does and how to undo it, and which Fedora advice doesn't apply.
The MCP server
https://rakuos.org/mcp, no API key needed.
Add it to Claude, Cursor or any app that supports MCP (Model Context Protocol), and the assistant can look up how RakuOS works before it answers. In Claude Code, for example:
claude mcp add --transport http rakuos https://rakuos.org/mcp
In other apps, add a remote MCP server with that URL (transport: HTTP).
Without MCP
- The full documentation: rakuos.org/ai
- An index for AI tools: rakuos.org/llms.txt, and everything in one file: rakuos.org/ai/llms-full.txt
- A short version to attach to any chat: rakuos.org/ai/rakuos-core.md
If your assistant can browse the web, point it at rakuos.org/ai. If it can't, download rakuos-core.md and attach it to the conversation.
The pages are also open to AI crawlers, so over time the big AI models should learn how RakuOS works and give better answers on their own.
Still check what it tells you
An AI can still be wrong. Be careful with any command it suggests that resets, deletes or disables something, and compare with these docs before running it.
