Reporting Bugs

Report bugs at rakuos.org/bugs. Pick the project the problem belongs to, for example rum for package installs, the Software Center, RakuOS System, the installer, the kernel, or your desktop's image. Search first: if someone already reported it, add your details there.

A bug report is for when RakuOS does something wrong. For "how do I…" questions, ask on Discord or the forum.

What to include

What you did, what you expected, and what happened instead, plus the output of:

cat /etc/os-release
sudo bootc status
uname -r
rum paths
journalctl -b -p err --no-pager | tail -n 60

And whatever fits the problem:

  • rum: the full error, or a debug run: sudo RUST_LOG=debug rum install <pkg> 2>&1 | tee ~/rum-debug.log
  • a driver: rum list --base | grep rakuos-kmod, rum list | grep rakuos-kmod and journalctl -k -b | grep -i -E 'rejected|verification failed'
  • boot or reinstall problems: journalctl -b -1 -u rakuos-overlay-sync and journalctl -b -1 | grep 'RakuOS overlay'
  • the installer: the install log from its last page

Before posting, check the output for things you'd rather not share (user names, network names, serial numbers).
