Getting Help

Common Problems

An app is listed but fails with "nothing provides …"

It comes from a repository that's turned off, usually Terra or RPM Fusion. Turn it on in the welcome app or the Software Center's settings, or with sudo rum config-manager --set-enabled terra. See Repositories.

Something from RPM Fusion stopped updating or installing

RPM Fusion is now off by default, also on existing installs after the update that made the change. Turn it back on. See Repositories.

The Software Center won't open

The tray already runs it in the background. Open it from the tray icon's menu, or quit it from the tray and start it again.

A driver won't load ("Key was rejected by service")

The driver was built on your PC by an akmod-* or dkms-* package and isn't signed. Remove that package and use the RakuOS one. See Drivers.

My Xbox controller, racing wheel or sensor stopped working after an update

Images from 23 October 2026 on include only the Broadcom Wi-Fi and virtual camera drivers; the rest are opt-in. Open RakuOS System › Drivers, turn on the repository it names (usually Terra) in the Welcome app, install the driver and reboot. See Drivers.

A command is "not found" after an update, but the package is installed

sudo rum restore-base-files <package> --dry-run
sudo rum restore-base-files <package>

See Resetting your apps.

An app from a downloaded .rpm won't start

It's missing a library its package didn't bring along. See Local RPM files.

"signature verification failed" when installing

Update first (sudo rum system-upgrade, reboot), then sudo rum clean packages and try again. If it says "no signature", that repository publishes unsigned packages: use the app's Flatpak or a Distrobox instead. Don't turn off signature checks.

Removing Brave or Chromium leaves a broken /opt link

Check that the link is broken (test -e /opt/<name> || echo broken), then remove just the link: sudo rm /opt/<name>. Never use rm -r there.

KDE file search finds nothing

A known bug: balooctl6 status says "Unable to open Baloo index", and the cause isn't found yet. If you have it, add your balooctl6 status output to the bug report.

Undervolting or TDP tools stopped working; no hibernation

That's kernel lockdown, which RakuOS now uses. See Kernel arguments.

The TPM isn't found any more, or the disk asks for its passphrase again

On some older Intel laptops, the IOMMU that RakuOS now turns on hides the TPM. See "If the IOMMU causes problems" in Kernel arguments for a one-boot test and the fix.

Stuck at boot, or the system won't start

See Rescue mode and Boot problems.

The automatic system updates setting doesn't update

It only checks for a new image for now. Update the system yourself; see Updating RakuOS.
