Getting Started

First Boot

Enroll the RakuOS key (Secure Boot only)

If Secure Boot was on during the install, a blue MOK Manager screen appears before RakuOS starts. It adds the RakuOS signing key to your firmware so the RakuOS kernel is allowed to start:

  1. Choose Enroll MOK, then Continue.
  2. Confirm with Yes and type the password rakuos.
  3. Choose Reboot.

If you missed it, or turn Secure Boot on later, see Secure Boot.

The first start

The first boot takes a little longer: RakuOS finishes setting up the apps that come with your edition. Keep the network connected.

The welcome app

At login the welcome app opens. It has:

  • Third-Party Repositories: switches for RPM Fusion and Terra. Both are off by default and optional; turn one on only if you need software from it (see Repositories).
  • a selection of popular apps to install.

It opens at every login until you click Finish.

Update

Check for updates right away: open Add/Remove Software and go to Updates, or run

sudo rum system-upgrade

and reboot when it's done. See Updating RakuOS.

Check anti-cheat readiness (optional)

If you play games with Easy Anti-Cheat, run sudo rakuos eac-check or open RakuOS System and click Anti-Cheat. See Anti-cheat.
