System Requirements

Minimum

  • A 64-bit x86 (x86_64) processor
  • 4 GB of RAM
  • A disk of at least 40 GiB. The installer won't continue with a smaller disk.
  • An internet connection for updates and installing apps

Recommended

  • 8 GB of RAM or more
  • An SSD or NVMe drive
  • UEFI firmware with Secure Boot and a TPM 2.0 chip. RakuOS works without them, but they're needed for encrypted installs that unlock with the TPM and for games that use Easy Anti-Cheat (see Anti-cheat).

Graphics

AMD and Intel graphics work out of the box. For NVIDIA cards RakuOS has separate images with the driver built in: Nvidia for current cards and Nvidia Legacy (the 580xx driver) for Maxwell, Pascal and Volta cards. You can switch to them after installing; see Switching images.

CPU levels

Every edition is built for three x86-64 levels: v2 (works on any 64-bit PC from roughly the last 15 years), v3 and v4 (newer CPUs, built with more instructions for better performance). The ISO installs v2; RakuOS System lets you switch to a higher level your CPU supports and only offers the ones it can run.

32-bit (i686) and ARM machines.
