Installing RakuOS
With your bootable USB ready, you can now install RakuOS onto your machine.
1. Boot from the USB drive
Restart your computer with the USB drive plugged in, and open your firmware's boot menu (often F12, F10, Esc, or Del depending on your hardware). Select the USB drive to boot from it.
2. Start the live session
RakuOS boots into a live desktop session first, so you can try it out before installing anything. Once you are ready, launch the installer from the desktop.
3. Follow the installer steps
The installer will guide you through:
- Choosing your language and keyboard layout
- Connecting to Wi-Fi, if needed
- Choosing the disk to install to, and whether to erase it or set up custom partitions
- Creating your user account and password
- Reviewing your choices before anything is written to disk
4. Finish and reboot
Once the installer finishes, remove the USB drive and reboot. Your machine will start into your new RakuOS installation.
After installing
Check for updates right away using the Software Center or rum upgrade, and take a look at the rest of the Docs section for setting up your desktop the way you like it.
